Custom Titanium Chainmail Products

I have been handmaking custom chainmail for 18 years and have been working specifically with titanium for over a decade. I use Grade 5 (often referred to as "aircraft grade") titanium alloy.

Titanium is the closest thing to a "mythical" metal that is known today. It is very light - almost half the weight of stainless steel. Alloyed, it is immensely strong - almost twice the stength of stainless steel. It is the perfect hardness - quite rigid with marked spring-back, but soft enough to bend without breaking or shattering like tungsten and its alloys. It is extremely corrosive resistant. It can be anodized. It is hypo-allergenic. Truely, the only thing seperating it from the mythical metal of J.R.R. Tolkien's mythology (apart from the "extra-physical" qualities of mithril) is that the alloyed color tends to be a duller grey than a shiny silver. For more information on Titanium, and the alloys I use in my products, see the information page.

"Mithril! All folk desired it. It could be beaten like copper, and polished like glass; and the Dwarves could make of it a metal, light and yet harder than tempered steel. Its beauty was like to that of common silver, but the beauty of mithril did not tarnish or grow dim." - The Fellowship of the Ring, "A Journey in the Dark"
